Perp caught breaking into home sent to prison: police

A Moncton man has been sent to prison after pleading guilty to a residential break and enter this winter, police say.

Codiac Regional RCMP had reported they had arrested a man following a break, enter and trespassing at a residence on Worthington Avenue in Moncton. Police said that on Feb. 4, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Mounties responded to a report of a break and enter in progress. The suspect attempted to flee the scene but was arrested following a brief pursuit on foot.

Police said in the news release that they also recovered credit cards that had been previously reported as stolen during a separate break and enter.

Rock Godin, 37, appeared in Moncton provincial court by phone on Feb. 5, was charged with numerous offences and was remanded into custody.

Police updated the news release on Monday, saying Godin pleaded guilty to 19 offences on April 24, including break and enter, disguising his face to commit an offence, trespassing at night, possessing break and enter tools, theft of a vehicle, mischief, possession of stolen property and others, and he was sentenced to two years in prison.
